Tamarin Bay Beach, Mauritius
Tamarin Bay Beach, on the southwest coast of Mauritius, is quite a gem – we must admit. Famed for its white sands and crystal clear waters, keen surfer dudes catch some of the best waves for surfing on the island while lazier beach bums can simply blow bubbles in transparent waters or collect pretty shells. Want more? The bay has its own dolphin pod (keep an eye out!) and dramatic views across to the Montage du Rempart – an extinct volcano. We told you it’s a good ’un, you heard it here first…
This sandy stretch is more wild and rugged than preened and proper; a down-to-earth break from the buzz of Mauritius’ busier, more glamorous, beaches. There’s no sense of urgency on the soft white sand, so adopt a relaxed boho attitude, twist your hair into sea-salted dreadlocks, and step into the surf.
