BEACH: Ladies Beach
WHERE: Ulcinj, Montenegro
WHY: Looking to get pregnant? Local lore has it that the beach has ‘magical powers’ to help women put a bun in the oven – but certain rules must be obeyed in order for it to work. These include being accompanied to the beach by an older woman, undressing and walking several times around a stone immersed in sulphurous brown water. Oh, then you need to consume a boiled egg. Alternatively, you could just join us and sunbathe.
HOW: Situated along Ulcinj’s coastal pine forest, beneath the Hotel Mediteran resort, this secret cove is only accessible from the crystalline sulphurous waters that surround it.
H2O TONE: Devil Damselfish Blue
SAND TONE: Panna Cotta Cream
STAY: Hotel Petriti. Yes, peace and quiet can be achieved without being in the back of beyond. This elegant hotel sits perfectly between the city centre and Ulcinj’s Big Beach allowing for both hustle and bustle, and well deserved respite.
WHEN: Hottest from May to October, but we suggest grabbing those glow sticks and heading down in August for the Entrance Dance Music Festival in Rose, Herceg Novi.
