Beach of the Week 12.04.11

Paeau Beach, Mo’orea, French Polynesia

Did you recognise this little patch of sand? For those of you who spotted this palm fringed bay correctly…yep, it was indeed Mo’orea. The little sister to neighbouring Tahiti, this is pure Polynesian paradise.

A heart-shaped, coral-fringed, lagoon-ringed drop in the deep blue – need we say more? Ok well imagine sunning yourself on a blindingly beautiful beach while munching on the local grub of freshly baked baguettes, creamy chunks of camembert and mouth-watering pâté.

Paeau Beach on Mo’orea’s northwest coast is the blueprint for tropical island beaches. Take a dip in the bath-like blue lagoon and paddle out to a deserted little motu across the water. It’s 100% selfish beach bliss on this personal private island. Swim back to Paeau’s soft sandy shore and mingle with the rays and teeny black-tip sharks – might sound scary but trust us, they’re not.
