BEST BEACH EATS

A spot of fine dining served up with a sea view? Yes, please. And that's just for starters…

Quique Dacosta

Quique Dacosta, Denia, Valencia, Spain

With two Michelin stars and a string of gastronomic awards, Quique Dacosta has created an innovative and exciting avant-garde menu of traditional Spanish dishes with a strong modernist twist. Dining here is more of an experience than simply a meal, with empty white tables providing the perfect blank canvas for Dacosta's experimental six-course tasting menu. Even the entrées are impressive, including dishes like Iced Tea served with Hibiscus and Chicory, and Table Salted Shrimp Pancakes.

Sjömagasinet

Sjömagasinet, Gothenburg, Sweden

Set in an old East India Company warehouse dating back to 1775 at the edge of Gothenburg harbour, Sjömagasinet has become a bit of a Swedish institution. Brought into the public eye over ten years ago by the well-known chef Leif Mannerström, as of last April Sjömagasinet now has a brand new head chef – twice-Michelin-starred culinary hot shot, Ulf Wagner. Wagner's imaginative dishes include Poached Fillet of Turbot served with a Browned Butter and Oyster Bouillon and Pan Fried Anglerfish with a Truffle and Madiera sauce.

Akelaŕe

Akelaŕe, San Sebastián, Spain

Perched high up on Mount Igueldo above the Bay of Biscay, with incredible views over the Atlantic, Akelaŕe's inventive cooking has been deemed worthy of three Michelin stars. Head chef Pedro Subijana's menu is an exciting blend of bold flavours and playful presentation executed with style and flair. We recommend trying the chef's Tasting Menu for mouthwatering and unusual dishes like Prawns with Fire Pomace Pods and Xaxu Sparkling Coconut Ice Cream. Revolutionary cooking with a beach in reach – sounds pretty good to us.
